The Head Kitchen Porter will play a pivotal role in directing the kitchen porter team to ensure the smooth running of the kitchens. This temporary position is the perfect fit for someone who is able to work within a team collaboratively whilst providing professional leadership to ensure the team are maintaining high standards of cleanliness.

At Chester, it also owns and operates an on-course hotel, and a vibrant pub and adjacent commercial premises in Chester city centre.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring Food Safety, HACCPs and Health and Safety Guidelines are always adhered to
- Ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene are being maintained throughout and after service
- Effectively communicating with chefs and FOH team before and during service to understand needs and prioritise tasks to support service delivery
- Supervising the kitchen porter team, ensuring the completion of kitchen cleaning schedules
- Ensuring the fleet of kitchen vehicles are cleaned inside and out
- Planning kitchens ready for upcoming events including equipment logistics, checking First Aid boxes and sourcing any missing stock
- Maintaining food storage areas such as fridges and freezers to a high standard of order and hygiene
- Place chemical orders
- Removing kitchen waste and disposing of them correctly
Skills and Experience Required:
- Previous experience working within a commercial kitchen as a kitchen porter
- Previous experience managing a team
- Holds an in date Food Hygiene Certificate
- Excellent organisation and communication skills
- Able to act on instructions quickly
- Physically fit - able to be on their feet for long periods of time with regular lifting
Contract: Temporary ongoing, a view of 6 months with the possibility of extending the contract
Hourly Rate: £14.50 per hour plus holiday pay
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Evening and weekend work is expected in line with business needs.
This role is based in Chester and therefore a reliable commute to Chester city centre is essential.
