You will play a key role in our People team, encompassing oversight of Learning & Development to help our teams perform at their best while delivering HR support for our wonderful 175 colleagues across the business. You’ll be supporting managers with their teams, managing our people systems and policies, and supporting our HR Assistant in planning employee engagement activities.

General responsibilities include:
L&D
- Collaborating with business divisions to identify skills gaps and deliver relevant learning solutions, using data from end-of-year reviews and team surveys to identify themes
- Designing, planning, and implementing training using external facilitators, in-house skills, and e-learning
- Measuring the ROI of training interventions to demonstrate tangible impact
- Mapping and managing core compliance training across the group
- Guiding line managers on absence, performance, and conduct matters in line with policies, best practices and compliance
- Designing and overseeing the delivery of employee engagement activities that support our People Strategy
- Supporting the development of internal communications and performance recognition that reflect our values and culture
- Building an employee forum to encourage feedback and continuous improvement
- Delivering training and support programmes aligned to our EDI commitments
- Using data from our HR and recruitment platforms to review and make recommendations to improve our people agenda and our employee experience
- Ensuring our HRIS runs smoothly, with up-to-date workflows and data integrity
- Maintaining a comprehensive library of HR policies and benefits offerings
- Coaching and mentoring HR team members to support their development
Our successful HR and L&D Manager will have the following:
- Previous experience in HR (to at least senior Advisor level) and experience in a Learning and Development role
- Experience in designing, delivering and reporting on L&D outcomes
- Knowledge and proficiency in HR systems, payroll, employment law and ACAS codes of practice
- Qualified to CIPD Level 5 (or by equivalent experience/qualification)

Salary: £42,000 per annum
Hours of work:
37.5 hours per week, standard working hours are 09:00-17:30.
Evening and weekend work is expected in line with business needs.
This role is based in Chester but requires occasional travel in the UK. A reliable commute to Chester city centre is essential.
Hybrid and flexible working:
This role does permit remote working, which would be for c. 20% of weekly hours (i.e., 1 day a week for full-time hours). We are a site-based operation supporting operational teams on site, so to deliver the service our colleagues rightly expect of us, we work predominantly on site here in Chester. We recognise that some work is more productively done at home (and are very supportive of this), but we want to be upfront with applicants about our ways of working.
